Cancelling 2nd Albany round
04.16.11
We are going to cancel the 2nd Albany round. Based on the turnout there last year, it just doesn't seem that this would be the year to try it again. We are working on another date at Straddeline. We will keep you posted
We need your input
04.13.11
The FZA team would like to get your thoughts on a few things. Please give us your feedback on our Facebook page as it will be crucial to the future of our series:
First of all, the turnout for our first round was devastating. Please tell us why you did not attend...was it the track?, economy?, timing? or some other reason you did not attend?
Second, we have had to cancel 2 rounds (Eddieville and Prineville). Eddiville no longer has water and they are not able to fulfill our agreement. And we have already received feedback that Prineville is too far for most to travel. We are considering adding a 3rd round @ Straddeline but that will depend on the turnout in Spokane and your feedback here today. It would also depend on if the dates would be available.
Thirdly, we have 2 rounds scheduled for Albany. Are you willing to travel there 2x this year?.
This series is for you, the racers...but the fact of the matter is that FZA cannot continue on this downward trend. Without your support and feedback it will not survive the storm. We are forced to look at 2 options...either 1) Scale back CONSIDERABLY (which we have already started to do) or 2) cancel the series all together. The decision will not be made hastily and much consideration will go into our decisions.

Super Quad Race report by Vern Forenpohar
09.17.10
If you didn’t make it to this event, you missed out on some fantastic racing! I apologize in advance for only having a race report for the Pro-Am class, but hopefully someone else will have a report on the other classes. This is also my first crack at a race report so lets not be to fricken critical alright.
Race 1
Saturday morning was the 51 mile cross country event and #173 Josh Pursell was a man on a mission, he took the hole shot and had a 15 second lead by the end of the first lap, #21 Denny Derrum in 2nd, #10 Jorie Williams 3rd , #135 Drew Lattimar 4th, and #73 Colton Wehrman rounding out your top 5. Lap 2 showed little change with #173 Josh Pursell still in the lead, Denny and Jorie battling for 2nd, but the #135 of Drew Lattimar fell back moving #73 Colton Wehrman to 4th, and #32 Brandon Brown into the 5th position. By lap 3, Josh had his KTM out in front by 30 seconds, with Denny and Jorie still fighting for second, Brandon Brown moved up to 4th, and #288 Clay Forenpohar had moved into 5th battling hard to hold off #78 Ethan Thatcher who was only 10 seconds behind him, #73 Wehrman Suzuki fell victim to yet another 3rd gear failure taking him out of the race. It took 4 more laps before any changes took place in the top 5. On lap 7 Clay and Ethan got around the #32 of Brandon Brown, moving them into the 4th and 5th positions running1minute 45 seconds behind the leader. At lap 10 the top 5 remained unchanged however the field had tightened up with the #21 of Denny Derrum only 10 seconds behind the #173, the #10 of Jorie 10 seconds behind Denny, and the #288 of Clay and #78 of Ethan (only 6 seconds apart), 30 seconds behind Jorie. Clay and Ethan would turn in the fastest lap of the race when they came through the check point on lap 11, at 5 minutes 7 seconds, (still 6 seconds apart). On lap 12, a quick pit stop for fuel costs the #288 the 4th position moving Thatchers #78 Suzuki into 4th, looking to hunt down the #10 Honda of Jorie Williams who’s lead on 4th had shrunk to 20 seconds. On lap 14, it was starting to sound like Pursell might not make it to the end, his #173 KTM was starting to knock and his lead was shrinking, Thatchers Suzuki went down with electrical problems moving Forenpohars Suzuki back into 4th, and Brandon Browns #75 back into the top 5. One hour and 36 minutes after the flag dropped Josh Pursells #173 KTM emerged victorious and badly injured, there is little doubt it would not have made it another lap, Denny Durrams #21 Yamaha in second, with Jorie Williams taking the last spot on the podium in 3rd, #288 Clay Forenpohar 4th , #75 Brandon Brown 5th , #177 Cole Fite 6th , #78 Ethan Thatcher 7th , #135 Drew Lattimar 8th , #8 Dave Jenkins 9th , and #73 Colton Wehrman 10th .
Race 2
Arena Cross under the lights. The course was tight, the jumps were huge, the ruts were deep and the competition was gnarly. Moto I found a familiar face with the hole shot, #173 Josh Pursell jumped out to an early lead only to have it taken away half way through the first lap when #78 Ethan Thatcher took the lead. #21 Denny Derrum made short work of securing a spot in the top 5 coming from 9th to 4th almost as fast as Ethan took the lead, when they crossed the start finish line for lap 1 it was Thatcher, Pursell, Fite, Derrum, Jenkins, Williams, Forenpohar, Lattimar, Brown. Lap 2 saw #78 Thatcher take a commanding lead, for the remainder of the race no one could even keep him in site let alone catch him. Derrums #21 Yamaha made it’s way to 2nd pushing Pursell and Fite to 3rd & 4th , and #135 Lattimar found the only rock on the track wedging it into a front brake caliper and ending any chance of winning moto I. On lap 3, #10 Jorie Williams got around the #8 Honda of David Jenkins for 5th , and on lap 4 Jenkins would give up another position as Forenpohar got past him on the rear section camel back triple. Mid way through lap 6 the #288 Suzuki of Forenpohar moved into the top 5 by slipping past #10 Williams, just before the #177 Cole Fite tried to go under the #173 for 3rd and got jacked across the track landing in large pile of sand allowing Clay and Jorie to not only get by him but also the #173 of Pursell. The field remained frozen for the next 2 laps with moto I finishing Thatcher, Derrum, Forenpohar, Williams, Pursell, Fite, Jenkins, Brown, Lattimar. Moto II was a great reflection of how stiff the competition was, #10 Jorie Williams took the holeshot followed by Thatcher, Derrum, Pursell, Jenkins, Forenpohar, Lattimar, Fite, and Brown. On lap 2 #288 Forenpohar and #135 Lattimar both showed there ability to go large with Forenpohar getting around Jenkins on the camel back triple, and Lattimar doing the same on the front section triple, moving them into 5th & 6th. Lap 3 brought Fite into the 7th spot getting around the #8 through the whoops, while the #288 and #135 worked over the #173 of Pursell moving him back to 6th , as they claimed the 4th & 5th positions. Clay and Drew would continue to battle for the entire race but remained 4th & 5th for the rest of moto II. #177 Fite would take over the 6 spot from Pursell, and #75 Brown moved up to 8th on lap 5. On the final lap #75 moved Pursell out of the way for 7th leaving the finish order for moto II at Williams, Thatcher, Derrum, Forenpohar, Lattimar, Fite, Brown, Pursell, and Jenkins. Overall results for the arena cross were #78 Thatcher, #10 Williams, #21 Derrum, on the podium, followed by Forenpohar, Pursell, Lattimar, Fite, Brown, and Jenkins.
Race 3
Motocross Sunday morning was spectacular, Horn is defiantly one of my favorite tracks, it’s large, fast, and technical, but you couldn’t tell that to #135 Drew Lattimar, he put on a riding school for any one that wanted to attend. Moto I started with Littimar taking the hole shot followed by Brown, Derrum, Trevor Wehrman pinch riding for #73 Colton Wehrman, Martin, Thatcher, Williams, Fite, Forenpohar, Pursell, and Jenkins. Lap 1 was insane, the big mover was #288 Clay Forenpohar, he took a page out of Denny’s book and wasted no time securing his position in the top 5 moving from 9th into the 5th position moving #177 Cole Fite to 6th, Ethan Thatcher moved from 6th to 3rd, #21 Denny Derrum took over the 2nd spot from #75 Brandon Brown who fell to 4th, #173 Josh Pursell moved up 1 spot from 10th to 9th, with the big looser of all this being #73’s pinch rider Trevor Wehrman falling all the way to 11th. Lap 2 was not quite as insane, but the racing was excellent, #288 Clay moved up to 4th, #10 Jorie moved up to 5th, #32 Bryan moved into the 7th spot, #173 Josh made his way to 8th and #75 Brandon was left in 9th wondering how it all happened. By the 3rd lap everyone had settled in pretty well, there were a lot of riders challenging for position but no one moved. Lap 4 set the order for the finish with the final position change being #173 edging out #32 for the 8th spot, for the next two laps it was good hard racing with #135 Lattimar taking the win, #21 Derrum in second, and #78 Thatcher in third, followed by #288 Forenpohar, #10 Williams, #177 Fite, #173 Pursell, #32 Martin, #8 Jenkins, and #73 Wehrman. Moto II didn’t have all the position changes that moto I had but none the less was the race to watch. The overall win was still up for grabs, although likely to go to either Jorie Williams or Denny Derrum, making the real battle the last spot in the money between #78 Ethan Thatcher, #288 Clay Forenpohar, and #173 Josh Pursell. It would take a fantastic finish from Josh, but for Ethan and Clay it came down to who finished in front of who. When the gate dropped for the second moto it was like the bell rang for second period of #135 Drew Lattimars riding school 101, he took the hole shot and the rest of the field followed taking notes for 6 laps. #75 Brown came out second, #10 Williams 3rd, then #288 Forenpohar, #73 Wehrman, #78 Thatcher, #177 Fite, #32 Martin, #8 Jenkins, #173 Pursell, and #21 Derrum. By the end of the first lap #10 Jorie, #288 Clay, and #78 Ethan had taken over 2nd, 3rd, & 4th, moving #75 Brandon, and #73 Trevor, to 5th & 6th, while #21 Denny worked his way to 8th, pushing #32 Bryan, #8 Dave, and #173 Josh, to 9th, 10th, & 11th. On lap 3 #21 Derrum moved up to 6th, #32 Martin took over 7th, and #173 Pursell gained one spot to 10th, #177 Fite fell to 8th, #73 Wehrman to 9th, and #8 Jenkins to 11th, the top 5 remained unchanged. Lap 4 was pretty exciting in the back of the pack with #173 gaining one spot to 8th, #8 moving up two to 9th, #177 dropping two spots to 10th, #73 down to 11th, and near the front, #21 moved to the 5th position, dropping #75 to 6th. On lap 5 the last move of the race was made by #78 Ethan Thatcher, he took the inside line on the tunnel jump and the #288 of Clay Forenpohar couldn’t hold him off moveing Ethan to 3rd and Clay to 4th, when the checker came out it was #135 Lattimar, #10 Williams, and #78 Thatcher, followed by #288, #21, #75, #32, #173, #8, #177, and #73. Over all for the motocross race was #135 D. Lattimar, #78 E. Thatcher, #10 J. Williams, #21 D. Derrum, #288 C. Forenpohar, #75 B. Brown, #32 B. Martin, #173 J. Pursell, #177 C. Fite, #8 D. Jenkins, and #73 T. Wehrman. This was one of the best events we have ever attended and hopefully next year the turn out will be over the top, congratulations to the overall event winners, Jorie Williams 1st, Denny Derrum 2nd, and Ethan Thatcher 3rd, you all rode your asses off. Hope you enjoyed this

What a great opening weekend!
05.02.10
What a great opening weekend. We had just under 250 entries. This was one of the best turnouts we have seen in several seasons. We had riders from Wa, Id and Or make the trip. The track, it's staff and facilities are one of the best in the NW. The gates were full and the racing was action packed.
It was also really nice to see the UTV's make a presence as well. As with any opener it was not without it's challenges, but most were minor. We did have 2 injured riders...Carson McBride and Cole Fite. We wish both a speedy recovery. Thank you to all who made the trip and started this season off on the right foot....
