NWQN Round 4 @ Pacific Raceway
(May 22,
2007)
Round 4 of the NWQN Saturday and
Sunday is in the record books. Coming back to
our old haunt at Pacific Raceways in Auburn/Kent
area of Washington. Pacific Raceways made some
new track modifications which made for some great
Quad Racing. They removed a few of the doubles
and made them into tabletops. They smoothed
out some of the lips on the step downs as well.
This made for a faster more aggressive race!
Saturday turned out to be a great day. Pro
Rider Phil Oppen took the win at the pro purse.
Drew Lattimar took control of the Pro/AM race on
Saturday followed by Mike Kelley and Jeremy Johnson.
Jeremy Johnson had a bit of bad luck when the kill
cord broke on his Suzuki, leaving him out of the
main. Damon Taylor made his debut in the
Pro/AM Race on Saturday. All in all it was a great
day with a great turn out. We want to thank
all the mini's for coming out and enjoying the
racing. You guys are the future of this sport
and we want to do everything we can do to support
you as you support our series. The nice thing about
this series is the family we created. If your
new to the series you can always go right up to one
of the veterans and ask them questions. A
great resource is Mike Taylor or Les Engelhart from
Extreme Mini Quads North West.
I
did mention to Bob that we really need to work on
our 30 second girl as they kept more interesting
such as Sean Clinton, Jeremy Johnson, and Ze'vyer
Motts helping out start the races.
Sunday's S2F (Spring to Fall)
series was also a great day with a great turn out.
Our 30 second Girl started out really bad, (Bob
Lattimar) but then got cute with Jade McCoy coming
to our rescue. Mini's were out in force and we
gathered up a few more Pro racers. Gary Blum, (back
on four wheels) took the purse on this day as Paul
Wilkerson made his Pro debut. Mike Kelley took
the lead on the Pro/AM race with Joey Wyngaert and
Jeremy Johnson trailing in second and third place.
Drew Lattimar on the new 450 Kawi had technical
difficulties after the clutch went and was unable to
finish the day out. I am thinking Kawasaki
still has a "bit" more work to do on that new
Kawasaki 450.
Kenny Crane #
231 and Ethan Thather #78 where putting a great show
on during the last race on Saturday with some great
riding skills and tricks over the big tabletop.
Kenny was awing the crowds with the over the bars
heel clicks with Thatcher doing some downside look
backs. Good performance by both of them to aw
the crowd during to end the race day.
We got through to the final races on both days
before the rain came in to drench the track,
So it was an awesome weekend. I am hoping you
all enjoyed it as much as the staff of the NorthWest
Quad National . Both race results for
Saturday and Sunday are now
posted. Go Check them Out. If
you see any discrepancy, please contact
patg@fantomzatv.com for assistance.
NWQN Round 3 @ Riverdale
(May 8,
2007)
Round 3 of the NWQN Saturday and
Sunday was a hit! The track was a bit
technical in some areas with a LOT of flat landing.
The Off-Road Grand Prix style race on Saturday
offered some GNCC style racing between the trees and
with some technical single lines. We would
like your feedback on how you though the Grand Prix
style race went. Please provide feedback in
mail by
clicking here.
Sunday's Motocross race was also
very successful. We haven't got the official
results posted yet so stay tuned for further
details.
We would also like
to send our best wishes out to Jade Mccoy who took a
pretty nasty flat landing after the double/double.
We at NWQN and FantomZATV wish you a quick recovery.
You guys need to let us know how you are going.
Back to Basics : Flags 101
(May 8,
2007)
There was an issue over this last
weekends race for which we though it would be good
to take you back to Race Flags 101. Please
click the link below to view the details on the
different flags at the track. This is good to
teach the little ones as well. We would hate
to see a mini get disqualified for not knowing with
the flags mean at the track. Big bikes as
well. We hate to see anyone DQ but rules are
rules.
Understanding the flags at the race track....
NWQN Round 2 @ Straddleline
(April 30,
2007)
Round 2 Saturday and Sunday Series
both were Awesome. When we got there Friday
night we were skeptic as to how the conditions were
going to be due to the rain and the condition of the
track. However, Saturday the sun came out, the
track cleared up fast and the races were on!
Saturday series went off with out a hitch.
Good riding by all! Reed Petchnick had a
really good Saturday and Sunday while Jeff Bocook,
Pro Racer 79 didn't have such a good time as Pro
rider Jesse Goss had a few misfortunate jumps
landing on Jeff Bocook and then in the next moto
landing on Phil Oppen, Kyle Meixner also had an
unpleasant tumble trying to avoid Oppen.
We saw two of our very own back on
the track this weekend. Gary Blum Pro Rider
#22 decided that two wheel racing isn't as fun as
quad racing, so he came back clinching 3 place in
the Pro lineup. Also, Jarid Lorenzen A rider
#15 got back on the track after taking the winter
off to let a bad arm break heal up from a mishap at
Pacific Raceway last year. Drew Lattimar Pro/AM #35
was out racing the brand new Kawasaki 450. The
quad looked like it was running good with the
occasional puff of unknown smoke coming out and the
very light weight front end. I am sure once
Drew dials that bike it it will be a awesome ride.
The Sun came out on Sunday to have a great day!
The only problem was that the track got really dusty
fast. As the day went on it got harder and
harder to see as the dust picked up more.
Mini Racers were on fire this
weekend as well. Those kids are going to be
phenomenal racer, not that they already aren't great
riders already, but I will be glad by the time they
are up running big bikes, I will be far far retired
from racing.
Results are coming and will be
posted soon. Keep yourself posted by coming
back and checking us out!

Safety is a MUST!!! (IMPORTANT MUST READ)
(No Exceptions, please review the
Rules for Round 2)
(April 4,
2007)
During Round 2 of the NWQN series
we will be doing tech specs as you come to the line.
There will be NO exceptions if you do not have the
appropriate safety requirements met. If you
are not familiar with what items are required for
racing, please
view the rules page
for further details. Again, no exceptions.
We want you and the other racers to be safe.
Speed in the Pits Will Cost You
(April 4,
2007)
We watched a few people zoom
through the pits. I want to make it clear that
pit speeds are to be 5 MPH. This is for both
adults and minis. If any race officials
identify you as zooming through the pit section it
will cost you by either starting behind your class
or starting backwards. Please make sure that
you let your minis know that they need to ride slow
through the pits and safe. Remember there are
little ones running around the pits and we don't
want them getting hurt because you had to get to the
line. We will give you time to make it to the
pit. Normally 2 minutes if you are not on the
line.
Help Us Keep in Clean
(IMPORTANT)
(April 4,
2007)
Please help us on taking care of
the tracks we visit so they let us come back.
We noticed that there was lots of water bottles on
the ground and trash especially around the gate.
Please help us clean up and pick up your trash.
We would truly appreciate your assistance in keeping
it clean.
Steps on Pitting During
a Race
(April 4,
2007)
Since no pits are provided during MX races we have
the following option. if you have to pit for
example leaving the track for minor repairs, you
must leave slowly and not be a danger to anyone.
You must return to the track at the same place
you exited and re-enter the track not to impede
other racers on the track. You may not
re-enter the track after the last rider has crossed
the finish line.

NWQN Round 1 2007: Horn Rapids
(April 4,
2007)
Round 1 of the 2007 NWQN Championship Series was
a success. We had a great couple of days in
racing. The weather stayed good and the quads
were hot. We have made several changes to this
years venue and we are looking forward on carrying
the smooth process that worked in Round 1 to all the
other rounds throughout the two separate races of
this year.
The track was in great shape and provided our racers
a challenge. The Pro & Pro-Am race was exciting
with Jeff Bocook winning the Pro race and Drew
Lattimar checking out on his Suzuki to take the win
at the Pro-Am class. Just remember, we have
two separate series during this season. The
race results are up and posted.
